itsalwaysrainingsomewhere.com
A work of 'net art' created during the confinement resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic, as part of the group exhibition 'Intimate' curated by the Max Estrella Gallery in Madrid.
itsalwaysrainingsomewhere.com is powered by 50 video surveillance cameras streaming in real time from YouTube, located all over the world, from Asia to America, from the bottom of the sea to space. Every 10 seconds, in a random order, the work connects to a camera in front and a camera behind. In each instant, three places are connected, a link is created, a bridge is drawn that bonds the world to each other.
Below is a screen recording and a selection of screenshots of the work taken on 4 May 2020.
itsalwaysrainingsomewhere.com is a net artwork created for 'Intimate', an online group exhibition curated by Max Estrella Gallery, which was born as a space for reflection during the period of time of confinement in Spain.
Issue 0 was published on 3 April 2020. Since then, week by week the gallery's artists have been sending in their creations, which can be seen at www.intimo.maxestrella.com.
Many of the public cameras that were used to create itsalwaysrainingsomewhere.com are no longer active, so the work has been slowly disappearing as they have been shut down.
